LEBANESE TANK BATTALION

In Beirut Tuesday, Gen. Fuad Chehab was sworn in as the new president of Lebanon. Chehab pledged the withdrawal of United States troops. About 8,000 infantrymen and some 1,700 marines are still on the scene. The original force sent to Lebanon was nearly 15,000 men.”
