TAKING LEAVE OF LEBANON

Press photo dated 17 August, 1958 with caption that reads: “Carrying full packs and with rifles slung over their shoulders U.S. Marines march along beach near Beirut, Lebanon, Thursday, enroute to craft to take them back to the U.S. Sixth Fleet in the Mediterranean. The leathernecks, who wanted on the beach only last month on presidential orders, are members of the Second Battalion, Second Marines. The last of some 1,700 men in the Second were gone from Lebanon’s shores yesterday.”
